CNA Drill

Ported to the ExamPlan engine, and the analytics now work by construction

CNA Drill previously served a thin eight-URL site whose PostHog project had never ingested a single event. The engine fails its build when the analytics token is missing, so this class of silent failure cannot recur once this pack is deployed. Retiring the old apps/web deployment in the cnadrill repository is a follow-up cut-over step, tracked separately from this content pack.

There is no single national CNA exam, and this site does not pretend otherwise

Nurse aide testing is administered state by state against a state-specific candidate handbook, by vendors including Credentia, Prometric and Pearson VUE. What is national is the floor at 42 CFR part 483 subpart D, and the NNAAP content outline used beneath many state programmes. Fees, time limits, retake caps and even which blood-pressure skill is tested come from your own handbook.

The written exam is 70 items but only 60 are scored

The 2024 NNAAP content outline, effective April 2024 and based on the 2019-2020 Job Analysis and Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Study of Nurse Aides, states that the written examination comprises 70 multiple-choice items of which 10 are pretest and non-scored. The nine content areas sum to 100 percent and to 60 scored items. Most prep sites quote 70 and stop.

The random skills draw is required by federal regulation

Section 483.154(b)(2) requires that the skills demonstration consist of a demonstration of randomly selected items drawn from a pool of the tasks nurse aides generally perform, and that the pool include all the personal care skills listed at 483.152(b)(3). Hand hygiene is always among the five drawn. This is why the randomiser on this site draws rather than lists: revising a shortlist of popular skills is a strategy the regulation exists to defeat.

Two skills in the pool are state specific

Skill 12, measures and records electronic blood pressure, and skill 23, measures and records manual blood pressure, are both marked state specific in the candidate handbook, which instructs evaluators not to substitute one for the other. A state tests one or the other, never both, and the randomiser has a variant for each.

Federal entitlements most candidates are never told about

You may choose an oral examination instead of a written one, under 483.154(b)(1)(i). If a facility employs you or has offered you employment, it may not charge you for any part of the evaluation, under 483.154(c)(2), and if you paid and are employed within 12 months the state must reimburse you pro rata under 483.154(c)(3). You are guaranteed at least three attempts under 483.154(f)(2).
